Isabel originally trained in Barcelona and London, in classical ballet, flamenco, folk regional/classical Spanish dance, modern dance, tap and ballroom dancing.
In 1990 she came to the UK on a scholarship and graduated with honours at the London Studio Centre. She has worked as a dancer and assistant choreographer in several productions for the BBC, including Wives and Daughters, Madam Bovary and Daniel Deronda, and has performed in various films, notably Shakespeare in Love, I Capture the Castle and Pride and Prejudice, in which she was also appointed Assistant Choreographer.
Isabel worked extensively as an actress and dancer with the English National Opera and the Royal Opera in Covent Garden and as Assistant Choreographer in Sir Richard Eyre’s production of La Traviata.
Her choreography credits include flamenco dance in Strictly Dance Fever in both 2005 and 2006, Barber of Seville for Garsington Opera, Carmen at Longborough Opera, La Rondine at the Royal Opera House, Movement Director of The House of Bernarda de Alba at the Theatre Clwyd, Don Giovanni and Carmen for Diva Opera and Flamenco Dance Coach and Mike Leigh’s film Happy Go Lucky.
Isabel was also flamenco and pasodoble expert on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, and Ray Quinn&Maria Filippov’s Flamenco dance coach in the final series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice.
Her choreography work is featured in the acclaimed Warner Brothers film Wonder Woman. Isabel was very honoured to work with Hollywood film director Patty Jenkins and famous actors Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Dany Huston.
Most recently, Isabel has been working as the choreographer for the acclaimed production of ‘The Gondoliers’ (co-production with D’Oyly Carte Opera & State Opera South Australia) at Scottish Opera in Glasgow, currently touring in Edinburgh and Inverness, and performances at the Hackney Empire London in April 2022.
